Mount Dempo (3159 masl) is located in the border province of South Sumatra and Bengkulu provinces Pagaralam precisely in the city. To reach the nearest village, first you must reach the town of Pagar Alam, approximately 7-hour road trip from Palembang. From the capital of South Sumatra is available a lot of buses in the direction Pagar Alam. Or if you are from Jakarta, prior to riding the bus or the Department of Bengkulu, Padang, and get off at Lahat.Ther is also bus directly to Pagaralam, but the new buses ordinary economy class buses and air-conditioning only.

City Pagar Alam, indeed as the name suggests, the city is clearly surrounded by the Bukit Barisan mountain range and the highest of these ranks is Mount Dempo. The mountain is very beautiful towering upright nan reaching for the sky blue when viewed in the morning.
It is therefore appropriate if the first night in town, here are many available inn, motel or hotel, there are also villas and homestay in the area of tea plantations. Urban culture that has been blended from a variety of both immigrants and native tribes to create the peace that you do not get in the big cities.
You can just spend your time and enjoy your self on tea plantation area or climb to the top of Dempo.
From the bus station of Pagar Alam, first chartered a car / taxi to majors Tea Factory PTPN VII that were located about 15 km from the bus station. In this plant a good idea to get acquainted with someone who used to be called Sir Anton, he included the elder by nature lovers throughout South Sumatra, Lampung. By asking for help, chartered car will take you to the nearest village from the foot of Mount Dempo, who might take longer than 20 minutes, because the road is steep, winding past the expanse of tea plantation with green.
Path leading to the top of the mountain even this is very clear and even on ordinary days too many of the villagers who accidentally climbed to the top whether it is to look for wood or just hiking.
Although this mountain high enough, but the water is crystal clear that there are up to half the journey to this mountain, so climbers do not have to worry about running out of drinking water during the trip. A small stream of clear, flowing in a sign the forest border we began to enter the forest area is overgrown with vegetation similar to those we find in Mount Gede-Pangrango in West Java, the montane forest. The path is full of the roots of the cross, itself a fairly steep slope to sweat. There are no specific signs, state the forest is almost homogeneous and very quiet.
Four or five hours later, we will enter an area with low vegetation and the lower wooded, some areas slightly open, the view became widespread. Mount Dempo has two peaks are the only named Peak Fire. Towards the first peak which is a plain massive Dempo, first peak overgrown plants that resemble low shrubs. From the first summit we descend back to the valley is flanked by the first peak and the main peak. Valley have a spring water flowing here. Only the crystal clear water is a little sour taste, perhaps the influence of seepage of sulfur.
Climbing the main summit is not too difficult. Slopes composed of gravel and rocks with tilt slope of about 40 °, is stable enough to climb. The main peak of Mount Dempo (3159 m), is a volcanic crater which is still volatile with a diameter of about one hundred square meters. Quite steep crater walls and could not descend without ropes rock. The view from the top quite exciting. Apart from the crater that gives a special impression, it appears also land Bengkulu province with the Indian Ocean with a quiet stretch of valleys and quiet. The trip down takes only two hours. If you can stay in the benighted Kampung IV, by first asking permission of the head of security there.
